Description
Sepsis, formerly called blood poisoning is usually triggered by a local infection. Such as pneumonia in the lungs, an infected wound or infection of the urinary tract. This can lead to failure of organs such as the lungs, the kidneys, or the heart. In the worst cases, the patient dies in a matter of hours.
